I wonder too about whether mainland boobooks are ever found in Tasmania.
Barn owls have been reported in Tas in the past (and the museum has one
specimen). Although the possibility of misidentification with Masked Owl
is there, this must be some indication that it's at least plausible that
boobooks could also visit.
