Hi all
My Dad and I were having a quick stop into the Saltwater section of Centenary
Lakes and got talking to a lovely lady who mentioned there had been a
Great-billed Heron there on Tuesday along the eastern creek (between CL and The
Lakes apartments). We wandered over that way to see on the off chance that it
might be around again. Got sidetracked looking at a Collared Kingfisher and
Black-necked Stork when she came and found us to tell us that she had found it
down the other creek!
So we raced down along Saltwater Creek and there it was quietly
standing/hunting on the bank just where the Freshwater Lake drains into
Saltwater Creek. (viewed from the Eastern side looking west).
It was amazing how well it blended in with the surroundings and I am forever
thankful to Anne (?) for coming to tell us about it!
Hopefully get some images on my website asap.
Cheers
David Stowe
