We were really chuffed to hear of such an exciting event happening
while we were in Alice.
After soul searching, I decided against trying to see the poor
misguided creature. Werner took no persuading. I like Mick Roderick's
suggestion that it may be fattening up for a return journey and I
really hope it makes it. Alice is experiencing a plague of feral cats
in town at present, so it will have more than wrong habitat and
directional problems to contend with.
We are returning to Alice after a few days in the West MacDonnells,
where I still didn't manage to see a Dusky Grasswren in natural
habitat. (The experience of watching them at the Desert Life Park in
Alice was wonderful.)
It had occurred to me we could visit the now famous B&B and twitch a
few of the "whose who" in the twitching community. I am very
disappointed to hear that you are definitely not coming Tony. That
certainly puts a damper on the excitement and we probably won't even
try for the possibility of rubbing shoulders with the elite.
Hats off to Chris Watson and his friends Will and Anne for making this
event known.
Werner and Julie Neumann,
Happy Wanderers
