Sun 14 Apr Black Kite Minnippi
A loose flock of 10 Black Kites flew North at 0930, only the 2nd site record. Also 2 Brown Goshawks.

Spotted Harrier Oxley Creek Common
Adult bird seen perched up in middle of common at 0630, later seen flying round at 0810. Also 1 White-necked Heron, Red-kneed Dotterel, 2 Brown Goshawk, 2 Leaden Flycatchers and a young Brush Cuckoo

Blue-billed Duck, Australasian Shoveler, Cotton Pygmy-Goose Seven-Mile Lagoon
2 Blue-billed Duck, 130 Australian Shoveler (a large number for SEQ) several thousand Pink-eared Duck on 7-Mile; 2 Cotton Pygmy-Goose on Lake Clarendon and 18 on Kilcoy-Woodford Road (Mary Smokes Rd junction)

Hoary-headed Grebe Seven-Mile Lagoon
220 on the lagoon, where it outnumbered Australasian - an extraordinary number for this species in SEQ. 11 also on Karasch's Lagoon and 5 on Jahnke's Lagoon

Six Freckled Ducks on lagoon, 8 Plum-headed Finches nearby along Cross Road

Pacific Baza, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Whistling Kite, Brahminy Kite, White-bellied Sea-Eagle, Comb-crest Dan Stiller Reserve 1' Cell
Personally recorded during a BQ trip to the site. Collectively trip participants observed 53 species and heard 9 others. Fine warm morning with the tracks mostly in good condition. Possible sighting of a Leaden Flycatcher and a flock of Topknot Pigeons. Pacific Baza (14) flying over the western forest Wedge-tailed Eagle (2) flying in the vicinity of Parkinson reserve, a nearby site Whistling Kite (1) Brahminy Kite (1) White-bellied Sea-Eagle (2) perched on the tree that contains their nest. Possible sighting of a third Comb-crested Jacana

Grey-tailed Tattler Currumbin Estuary
Northern side of Estuary between Estuary Bridge and mouth. 16 Grey-tailed Tattlers perched on rocks at waters edge this morning. No flags apparent. Numbers usually increase just before migration occurs.

Fri 12 Apr Hoary-headed Grebe Lake Clarendon, Lockyer Valley
One Hoary-headed Grebe picked out from the dozens of Australasians. Few records from this site (surprisingly). Also, Black-necked Stork flying over the lake.

Freckled Duck Karraschs Lagoon, Old Toowoomba Rd, Gatton
The bird reported in late March is still present and was roosting in the manner previously described, on a submerged fence post near the road. Also, a Hoary-headed Grebe nearby.

At least six birds present this morning in the vicinity of the Freckled Ducks.

At least three of the Freckled Ducks reported in late March are still present at the lagoon. Good close views obtained from the road of the ducks feeding like spoonbills in a few inches of water.

Mon 8 Apr Spotted Harrier Brisbane Airport
At 1600 today a Spotted Harrier flew low over the International Airport staff carpark and was quickly attacked by a Nankeen Kestrel.

Sun 7 Apr Yellow tail Black Cockatoo Taragoola Road Calliope about 4km south
A small flock of ten birds landed in our front paddock and also in one of the large trees adjacent to our home. Only lived in Calliope for about 7yrs but this is my first sighting of the yellow tail.

Thu 28 Mar Freckled Duck, Black-necked Stork and Cotton Pygmy Geese Dam, about half way between Clermont and Alpha
A farm dam beside the Clermont-Alpha. coords: -23.00154/ 147.0208 had a single Black-necked Stork, jacana (2), freckled duck (1), black-winged stilt (6), royal spoonbill (4), hardhead(3), pink-eared duck (3) and numerous cotton pygmy geese (~20) sorry, no photos.
