The most recent estimate I've seen is 20,000, but I understand that numbers
could be much higher at the moment (some just turned up in Hobart a few
days ago!). I'm not sure that statistical significant be applied here
though - if you just mean is it a change of more than 5%. Statistical
significance is usually a less than 5% probability that a change occurred
by random chance, rather than the amount of actual change. I'm a little
rusty on these kinds of statistics though.
Of course these people should be criminally prosecuted, and it's good that
it sounds like that's what's happening.
