Thanks to all who responded to my request for ID help. I agree it is a Red

Subject: Wader ID help

Hello all. My brother sent me a shot of a wader for identification, and I
had to tell him I was unsure. It was taken at the Western Treatment Plant in
Victoria. The picture is on my pbase site at
http://www.pbase.com/sjmurray/image/149130163

It is the largish wader in the centre. The picture is not great but should
be good enough for some comments. My only thought was possible Ruff, because
it's Larger than Curlew and Sharp-tailed Sandpipers; rather featureless
plumage; bill slightly longer than head length.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers Steve Murray
