Location: Kangaroo Island
Darter (Anhinga novaehollandiae) (2) One resting on rock wall at Kingscote
foreshore, Kangaroo Island (has been present for several months).
One, a female, drying wings on edge of Western River estuary, Western River
Cove, Kangaroo Island, 5 March 2013
Spotted Harrier (Circus assimilis) (1) an adult, believed to be the same
individual, observed along N coast between Emu Bay and Cape Willoughby over
past several months. Personal observations of it supplemented by reports from
Snow, Bill, Adele, Ross and Janette.
Hooded Plover (Thinornis rubricollis) (5) Pleasing observation of an adult pair
with three fledged 'grey-headed' immatures, foraging along edge of Western
River estuary, Western River Cove, Kangaroo Island, 5 March 2013.
Caspian Tern (Sterna caspia) (2) adult with very recently fledged young,
roosting with Crested Terns on Seal Bay beach, Kangaroo Island, 5 March 2013.
This strongly indicative of Caspian Tern breeding at Seal Bay or close-by.

Terek Sandpiper (Xenus cinereus) (1) Good view of bird from kayak, flew when
landed boat to get photo, missed again! Also Curlew Sandpiper really colouring
up.

Location: Private property 1km NE of Clayton Bay
Black-chinned Honeyeater (Melithreptus gularis) (2) At least 2 individuals
foraging in Eucalyptus porosa, E.leucoxylon,and E. camaldulensis.They were
feeding in company with Brown-headed and White-plumed Honeyeaters.Good views
obtained. Also 1 BCHE reported by M.Doecke,5.5 km to the east- along the Point
Sturt Peninsula on the 7/3.
Painted Button-quail (Turnix varius) (1) Disturbed from Sugar Gum plantation
while tracking down the Black-chins!
