Hi Laurie,
I used to see Striated Herons, possibly the same bird each time, at least once 
a week while riding along the expressway bike path from toowong to Roma street. 
Often near the floating restaurant and mangroves nearby.

It's a Striated Heron on the bike path under the Riverside Expressway  
(Brisbane CBD).

The birds you come across when you are heading home from work ...

I continue to be fascinated by the way that Australian wildlife is  
adapting to the urban environment ...
