Location: ~2km inland at Encounter Bay
Black Falcon (Falco subniger) (1) Frequent sightings of this species over open
paddocks at this time of year between Waitpinga and Goolwa. This particular
sub-adult falcon was flying purposefully (hunting mode) over the daily flight
path of feral Rock Dove flocks coming in from West Island and the second
sighting in same area, same time of day, in a week.

Location: Tolderol Game Reserve, western shore of Lake Alexandrina.
Australasian Bittern (Botaurus poiciloptilus) (1) Just as I was packing up for
the evening a single Bittern came in out of the evening storm clouds, flying
against a stiff breeze with wings set and very nearly fancied my head as a
perch!

Location: pond 9, Laratinga Wetlands, Bald Hills Road, Mount Barker
Latham's Snipe (Gallinago hardwickii) (1) Quietly feeding in full sun along the
edge of rushes.
Still, clear morning; temp about 18, prior to a max in the high 30s.
Pond 9 has shallow water over about half its area; the rest is damp mud.
Many Black-fronted Dotterels, 5 Red-kneed Dotterels and at least a dozen
Spotted Crakes were feeding on the mud-flats.
