I have just added a new identification guide to my website
http://www.photos-n-guides.com/

This guide is intended to help in separating Common Greenshank (Tringa
nebularia) from Marsh Sandpiper (Tringa stagnatilis).
The guide is in two parts, the guide itself and photo albums showing extra
images of the two species.

To access the identification guide “Greenshank v Marsh Sandpiper ID Guide” do
one of the following:

- click on this link
http://www.photos-n-guides.com/html/common_greenshank_v_marsh_sandpiper.html
and select the “Greenshank v Marsh Sandpiper ID Guide” link;
(The two photo albums can also be accessed from that same page)

- start at the home page http://www.photos-n-guides.com/, click on the
“Identification Guides” navigation button, click on the “Birds” link, click on
the “Shorebirds” link, click on the “Greenshank v Marsh Sandpiper” link, then
choose either the ID Guide or one of the photo albums.

- hover the cursor over the “Identification Guides” navigation button, move the
cursor out to hover over the “Birds” navigation button which has popped out,
move the cursor out to hover over the “Shorebirds” navigation button which has
popped out, click on the “Shorebirds” navigation button, click on the
“Greenshank v Marsh Sandpiper” link, choose either the ID Guide or one of the
photo albums.

- go to the Index via the “Quick find index” navigation button and click on one
of the links related to either Common Greenshank or Marsh Sandpiper.

The main features of the ID guide are the composite images showing comparisons
of the bills, legs and body size of the two species. The photo albums show
differences in the plumages of the two species. The images of the bills are of
particular interest in my opinion.
The ID guide is only intended to be used for birds seen in Australia.
