Bridled Tern
Townsville Breakwater
Bridled Tern (1) One Bridled Tern at rest on the walkable breakwater about 100 metres back from the end. Not often seen on the Townsville coastline. ID digiscope heavily-cropped photo from about 200 metres distant. After I took this image, the bird flew towards Magnetic Island and did not return to the breakwater.

Pied Heron
The Esplanade, Cairns
One immature Pied Heron seen flying rather high over Esplanade heading south at about 10am - my first for the season near Cairns & first for some years here on the Esplanade.
Also of note was a large flock of Cattle Egrets seen offshore from here a little earlier in the morning heading south & flying low over the water - prob about 25 birds... my first record of this species for this location.
