Hi all,

There is an article in today's The Age newspaper with commentary on the
upcoming duck shooting season in Victoria:

http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/call-for-cruel-duck-shooters-to-be-prosecu
ted-20130118-2cy7l.html

The season was announced by Victoria's Agriculture and Food Security
Minister, Peter Walsh, and is for twelve weeks from March 16.

Somewhat ominously, the following quotes from the minister appear in the
article:

Mr Walsh said game hunting was a "popular recreational activity in Victoria
with about 43,000 people licensed to hunt game".

"The Victorian Coalition Government encourages hunters to make the most of
the opportunities to hunt, fish and enjoy these recreational activities,
which form part of our heritage," he said.

Unfortunately with this attitude from the current Victorian State
Government, I can't see an end to this absurd activity in the near future.
