If so then it's probably cheap enough to just try it, but wind protection could
be a big problem. Normally you'd need some sort of furry cover in all but the
lightest breeze, otherwise there'll be lots of wing rumble.
There have been a few discussions on the naturerecordists list about using a
device called an iRig Pre to allow the connection of other microphones to
iPhones recently, so it seems that at least iPhones are capable of recording
from external microphones.
