That occurred to me later on as well.  There would be Whipbirds along
the Yarra now up Warrandyte way - in fact the Birdlife Australia atlas
has one south of the Yarra in Currawong Bush Park, West Warrandyte.

Still doesn't justify using Pica pica though.

And some of the acting was dreadful.  Disappointing really after the
superb Jack Irish productions recently.
