Hi all,
Spent a great morning birding (over 120+ species) around the
Chiltern-Rutherglen area in NE Victoria this morning with great birding pal
Matt Weeks.

Painted Honeyater continues to be seen at Chiltern along with a late staying
Swift Parrot and large flocks of White-browed and Masked Woodswallows have
arrived. Plenty of other spring migrants at Chiltern as such as Sacred
Kingfisher, Rufous Songlark and White-winged Triller. Plenty of great bush
birding happening as well with many friarbirds and other honeyeaters in
Chiltern Forest along with other nice birds such a Speckled Warbler,
White-bellied Cuckoo-shrike, Turquoise Parrot and a Painted Button-quail with 4
chicks. Azure Kingfishers at the no.1 were also nice to see.

Further west over Rutherglen day the cracker sighting of the day was Red-backed
Kingfisher with White-backed Swallows flying nearby, wonderful. Bush
Stone-curlew was also picked up near Rutherglen along with more spring migrants
such as trillers and all four local woodswallow species, White-browed,
White-breasted, Masked and Dusky. A White-bellied Sea-eagle at lake Moodemere
was a great way to top off a terrific morning.
