On Monday I had a look at 4 different locations around Vasse Estuary without
seeing the Northern Pintail. Lots of Grey Teal and other ducks were seen.
Yesterday I went to the location described by Michael Brooker but it was
quite windy and the water was rough so very few Grey Teal or any dusks were
about and no Pintail either. It could be there but it would take a full day
of enthusiastic birding to cover the area.

Subject: [birdswa] NORTHERN PINTAIL at Vasse Wonnerup WA
William Brooker (a visitor from South Australia) has just reported
seeing a male Northern Pintail on the Vasse Wonnerup Estuary (near
Busselton) yesterday. It was where the Abba River joins the
estuary. He parked at the car park to the bird hide at Wonnerup and
walked from there, but there may be easier ways to access the
area. He has sent a distant photo to John Graff this morning, but
John is out of Perth at the moment and so may not be able to pass the
information on until tonight. William's phone number is 0409 675
560. He has not relocated the bird this morning, but it is a large
estuary!! It was associating with a flock of Grey Teal.
