Dimitris,
I am not familiar with the races of mongolus but you definitely have a mixed
flock of both Lesser and Greater Sand Plovers which is common. The first
photo is definitely Lesser. The length of the bill is the best character.
It took me a long time to become confident with these two species in the
Clarence Estuary north coast NSW but am very confident now.

Subject: Sand Plover woes...Recently in northern WA
Hello all,
I am struggling with these guys:
http://www.birdforum.net/forumdisplay.php?f=114
I am guessing that most are schaeferi with a few mongolus and the odd
Greater, but unless it's a classic Mongolian I struggle to be certain.
Any input is appreciated!
D.
