Yes it is worth looking at and thinking about. I have seen film of this
behaviour by, I assume the same species of Heron, on TV at various times in
past years but I suspect this is different film of it. I don't fully agree
with the commentary though that "it's also passing up the chance to eat the
bread in favour of a better meal, actively weighing cost and benefit,
pitting immediate gratification against delayed satisfaction." As that
assumes that bread is an adequate food for the heron. It also suggests a
thought out process, rather than the probably more likely trial and error or
a random discovery by the bird that fish are attracted to the bread then
using bread to attract fish.
