I wanted to follow Peter Waanders' lead and thank an equal number of members
who similarly helped me with information about various birds in the SE. Thanks!
Also, I'd intended to contribute the following to the rental car discussion,
and really did want to make the following suggestion - apologies if it was
already offered, and I missed it. An alternative option exists for anyone who
wants to concentrate in the Iron Range/Portland Roads area only eg in wet
season. If you fly Cairns to Lockhart River, you can hire a fairly pre-loved
but road-worthy vehicle from Paul Piva at Lockhart River Car Hire for a
surprisingly good price. Find him by Google. Paul is a great guy who is trying
to encourage birders up to the Cape - especially in the wet season, also
offering cheap cabins as an alternative to better-known cabins at the airstrip.
