Terns on the Brisbane River

Andrew, immature Common Terns around right now, but not so likely up the river, as you said. Forinstance,they are resting on the beach at Woorim (Bribie Island) in between fishing trips.

river. The black-billed terns you are seeing are the (much larger) Gull-billed 
Terns. The red-billed birds are certainly Caspians, and Crested Terns (with 
yellow bills) are also often seen.
