red knot who has flown from the Earth to the moon in terms of distance

I can't imagine why this link was sent "no subject" but the link carries a
story about "B95, the remarkable rufus red knot who has flown from the Earth
to the moon in terms of distance." Nice story and worth looking at, it
appears to show the maybe enhanced migratory ability that banding
contributed to at least this one bird. Or maybe only to our ability to know.
What is curious though is that the first half of the article (not the second
half) names the species as rufus red knot, which apart from emphasising the
decreased spelling ability of Americans (rufus instead of rufous), it seems
to be a particularly dumb bit of redundancy. I have never heard of the Red
Knot being called Rufous Red Knot. Has anyone else?
