White-quilled Rock-pigeon
Victoria River (escarpment walk)
Climbed the escarpment walk a couple of km past the roadhouse (towards Timber Creek) at daybreak expecting to find White-quilled Rock Pigeons (as per distribution maps found in several field guides). One pigeon was seen from above and it had chestnut wings as it flew away down into the valley. There was no white on the wings. I assumed this must be a Chestnut-quilled Rock Pigeon. However, according to Morecombe, White-quilled Rock-pigeon "race boothi... has reddish brown plumage and little, if any, white across outer wings"
