Hi David,
Locations for the Ostriches? - Not in Adelaide!!
Barbary Dove - My brother Mike's place in Salisbury east!! Email
Purple-gaped HE - Closest place is Monarto CP just under an hour from
Adelaide on the SE freeway to Murray bridge. If you are driving in from that
way it's on your left. Best also for Shy Heathwren, Diamond Firetail,
Southern Scrub-robin and Tawny-crowned HE,
Slender-billed Thornbill - Half hour north of Adelaide at Port Gawler. There
is trick to them, walk up and down the dirt track to the boat ramp just
after the turn off to the right to the bike track. Stay on the "clay
coloured" portion. Look both sides. Listening is best. They are in with
Brown Thornbills.
Any other species/subspecies i should be looking for there? - What do you
want? We have lots!
Also is Nowingi Track at Hattah still the best for Mallee Emu-wren? - it was
when I was there last! Southern end!

Hi All!
Hoping to get to Adelaide in a couple of weeks on a family holiday and
hoping
for some recent info on a few birds if anyone was happy to share :)
My birding time will be very limited as it really is a family holiday.
But what's a drive to Adelaide without going out of your way to see the a
feral
Ostrich somewhere! :)
So has anyone got any info and locations for the Ostriches?
Other targets in Adelaide will be
Barbary Dove
Purple-gaped HE
Slender-billed Thornbill
Any other species/subspecies i should be looking for there?
Also is Nowingi Track at Hattah still the best for Mallee Emu-wren?
(Possibly
might be able to go past there briefly on the way)
Any help would be most appreciated!
Cheers
David Stowe
