I have only just got to the computer after spending yesterday dressed as an eighteenth century naval man and showing lots of kids and adults the real thing. Much better than watching it on the news or even a live screen. I watched it from before second contact to after third. A 50x scope will give a good image.
Regards,
Alan
PS Best Birds while watching the transit:- Square-tailed Kite in Atherton followed by Sarus Crane in Yungaburra.

I just set up a projection in the garden and photographed the arrangement of scope etc, in case anyone wants to try themselves. Took about a couple of minutes to get it all sorted. Very simple.

Sunspots are really evident at the moment as well. http://wildiaries.com/trips/10989

Get out now and try it for yourself!! : )

Simon.

FYI, I've just added a live stream of the transit of Venus temporarily onto the front page of Bird-O. This is your last chance to see this for another 105 years ; )

The sun is out in Melbourne and the first rays are hitting the garden. Could be a good time to head out and take a look. http://bird-o.com/

Regards,

Simon.
