Hi,

It depends upon which State you live in and whether the Eclectus is the Australian subspecies.

If you are interested you could try

The third post down gives links to all the states requirements.

One would hope that the vet knows whether the parrot needed a permit or not according to your local licensing requirements.

Cheers

Andrew

Took my dog to the vet last night and there was a guy there with a female
Eclectus Parrot in a cage. It raised a question in my mind regarding the
need for a permit to keep one of these.

Can anyone advise whether a permit is necessary please.?

Tony.
