Published sightings for the week ending 4 Mar 2012.

Fri 2 Mar	White-necked Petrel, Streaked shearwater and Black-browed Albatross Mistral Point, Maroubra Wet and windy conditions today did nor produce a lot of birds, but quite a few highlights : 2 White-necked Petrels, 1 Streaked Shearwater, 2 Long-tailed Jaegers,1 Black-browed Albatross, 5 Flesh-footed Shearwaters, 1 Arctic Jaeger and about 35 Pomarine Jaegers (including some breeding plumage birds). Thu 1 Mar	White-throated Needletail, Jacky Winter and Varied Sittella Toohey Road, Bushells Ridge (Wyong LGA) Approximately 150 (probably more) White-throated Needletails seen around 11.30 am today at the above location. Three Jacky Winters and two Varied Sittellas also seen. Looked at Needletails in an attempt to locate any Fork-tailed Swifts amongst them but none, if present, were obvious. Deryk Engel
	Plumed Whistling Duck, Pink-eared Duck and Yellow- billed Spoonbill Argosy Stud, Powells Lane, Richmond There were 8 Plumed Whistling Ducks, 2 Pink-eared Ducks and 2 Yellow-billed Spoonbills on the lake on Argosy Stud, Powells Rd Richmond today. Unfortunately the are is expected to be flooded tomorrow with the release of water from Warragamba Dam. Adrian Dick and Peter Kelly
Wed 29 Feb	Australasian Bittern Pindimar (Port Stephens) An Australasian Bittern flew over Pindimar just after 9 am, heading north, and being mobbed by Noisy Miners. Alan Stuart
	Australian Brush-turkey Bylong Way, near Wollar Australian Brush-turkey (1) On edge of road in full view. (Moderator's Note: Western limit of range in this area AKM) Geoff Brown
	Red-kneed Dotterel and Lathams Snipe Wagtail Way, Ash Island, Hexham One Red-kneed Dotterel observed at the intersection of Crake Corner and Wagtail Way. Bird seen within Wader Pond approximately 50m from the corner. The Lathams Snipe was flushed whilst walking along Wagtail Way. No sign of the Eastern Yellow Wagtails. Deryk Engel and Paul Burcher
	Topknot Pigeon Bellawongarah, east of Nowra A flock of about 30 flew over house yard at 7:15pm in rain and mist, heading northeast. Carla Jackett

	Satin Flycatcher Hurlstone Park, Sydney I was very surpised to hear a typical 'Myiagra' flycatcher call from a tree in a front garden in the inner suburbs of Sydney. I was even more surprised to discover it was a beautiful male Satin Flycatcher, seen at a distance or 5 m, shiny black, contrasting with white belly, probably on his way north. Marc Anderson
	2 Square-tailed Kite Hornsby, Sherbrook Rd Happened to see and photograph two Square-tailed Kites circling around for a few minutes. Sorry for a such a low quality photo. :-) Stephen Aveling-Rowe
Mon 27 Feb	Eastern Yellow Wagtail and White-winged Black Tern Wagtail way Ash Island Three Eastern Yellow Wagtails seen, two yellow birds in breeding plumage and a third bird in non breeding plumage. The two yellow birds identified as race simillima. Also two White-winged Black Terns. Peter West and Sue Proust
	Square-tailed Kite Nowra Watched a Square-tailed Kite soaring/circling very low over council carpark on Berry Street at 4pm. Very warm and humid day. Carla Jackett
	Swamp Harrier, Eurasian Skylark Orange Airport, Orange Swamp Harrier one bird flying across Orange Airport. Eurasian Skylark- 3 calling and display flights near Orange Airport. Neville Schrader
	Black-faced Monarch Canterbury, Sydney An immature bird came in to bathe in my neighbour's water-filled wheelbarrow this evening. It's a bit of a surprise to see one of these birds around this suburb. I assume it's migrating north. Greg McLachlan

	Bar-tailed Godwit Rodd Park, Rodd Point One Bar-tailed Godwit at Rodd Point. (Moderators Note: this is a traditional site for Bar-tailed Godwits in Sydney Harbour although few seem to occur there these days. AKM) Michael Brooks
	Grey Goshawk ( white morph) Bulli Tops 1 Grey (White) Goshawk sitting on powerlines near Panorama House restaurant Michael Crosland
Sat 25 Feb	Brown Booby (adult female) SOSSA pelagic off Wollongong NSW The highlights of the 25th Feb trip were an adult Brown Booby (female) and a pod of 20+ Pygmy Killer Whales. Overall there were 15 species for the day, including Pomarine, Arctic and Long-tailed Jaegers, as well as good numbers of Wedge-tailed and Flesh-footed Shearwaters. Brook Whylie
	Latham's Snipe, Tree Martins, Stubble Quails Whittakers Lagoon, 20km West of Moree At the wetlands, special highlights were: a flock of 40 Tree Martins, Great-crested Grebes, Restless Flycatcher, Black Kites, over 30 Nankeen Night-herons with immatures, Flushed a Latham's Snipe Again, Heaps of Stubble Quail that I have not encountered before, Pink-eared Ducks and with juveniles, noisy Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters, Black-tailed Native-Hens, Golden-headed Cisticolas feeding juveniles, Red-winged Parrots with immatures and flocks of Chestnut- breasted Mannikins. 	White-winged Balck-tern (2) Ash Island, Newcastle As seen late afternoon on Saturday 25th Feb flying around the Swan Pond section, Ash Island ponds from Wagtail Way. Edwin Vella
	Eastern Yellow Wagtail (3), White-winged Black Tern (2), Greenshank, Red-necked Avocets Ash Island, Newcastle On Ash Island late in the afternoon, saw 3 Eastern Yellow Wagtails in breeding plumage, a Greenshank (only my first sighting for the Hunter this season. They appear to be scarce this season), 2 White-winged Black-terns, 4 Red-necked Avocets and a covey of Brown Quail. An immature Sea-eagle was also on the prowl low over Swan Pond and crossing Wagtail Way on a few occassions. Edwin Vella
	Sooty Oystercatcher (41 birds) Newcastle Ocean Baths At the rock platform next to the, about 15 Ruddy Turnstones as well as 2-3 Common Terns amongst a flock of Crested Terns and Silver Gulls. Edwin Vella
	Red-browed Treecreeper, Rufous Fantail, Blue Gum Swamp, Winmalee after a bad start (I missed the CBOC group at Mt Victoria) I visited the Megalong Valley. A Spotted Quail-thrush and 8 Gang-Gangs were seen at Hargeave's Lookout, later I counted five Diamond Firetails at the Six Foot track. I spotted some Red-browed Treecreepers in the Megalong but did not expect to see one again among the many bushbirds closer to home. Mark Fuller
