Hi all,
Last Saturday morning myself and two clients observed 2 Scarlet-chested
Parrots at Gluepot at around 8:15am. The following morning with Helga
Kieskamp I observed 2 Orange-bellied Parrots at Melaleuca at around 9:15am.
Later I realised that both sightings were just over 24 hours apart
(allowing for the 30 mins time difference). We flew to Melaleuca with
TasAir, who I can recommend as they were very flexible and accommodating of
birders' needs. Once at Melaleuca we had excellent weather for two days and
observed Orange-bellied Parrots many times (highest count was a flock of
6), also a recently fledged juvenile. Other good birds seen were Ground
Parrot, Striated Fieldwren, Southern Emuwren, Dusky Robin, Beautiful
Firetail and a Latham's Snipe.
