Koels in unison

I've just been down, all too briefly, to the NSW coast and around Sunshine
Bay, (just south of Bateman's BayO), the Koels are in a frenzy of calling
(presumably with a view to mating to take advantage of the Magpie and
Currawong second broods.

The most interesting thing about this was that in the street where we
were staying there were two males who hung around together. They both
looked rather scruffy which made me think they might be this season's
offspring. At night I heard two males Koels singing in perfect unison,
which I assume were these two.

Were they perhaps these two juveniles trying to perfect adult calls in the
same season they were fledged? Or are they two males who happen to hang our
together and think that the females like a bit of unison calling?
