Gull-billed Tern
Alfred Cove , Western Australia
Yesterday (23/11) during a short visit to Alfred Cove we saw two Gull-billed terns, a Hooded Plover and a Common Sandpiper.

Eurasian Hoopoe
Roebuck Plains Roadhouse, Western Australia
I know there are a few keen people that might be making a trip up to Broome this weekend. Thought I would let you know that it was seen again at lunch time feeding on the usual grassy area.

Red-tailed Tropicbird
Alfred Cove, Western Australia
I was shocked to see a Red-tailed Tropicbird at Alfred Cove this morning. It was flying high up above Burke Drive going east.
On 25th October I also saw a Red-tailed Tropicbird at Thomsons Lake and on this occasion it was down low flying over the lake as if looking for food. A day after a tropicbird turned up at Herdsman Lake and I believe it was the same bird.
Given these recent sightings it seems possible that November may be a time when this species flies off to find new territory etc so may be a time to keep an eye out for unusual white birds!

Eurasian Hoopoe
Roebuck Plains Roadhouse, Western Australia
The Hoopoe was seen well by at least 12 observers on Saturday (19th
Nov) in the mid-morning. It was also present at about 3pm happily feeding on the roadside lawn out the front of the caravan park. Adrian Boyle saw it again today (Sun 20th Nov) at around 1pm on the same lawn area when he dropped by.

Pechora Pipit, Island Monarch
Browse Island, Western Australia
A single Pechora Pipit (3rd for Australia) and an immature Island Monarch (2nd record for an island off the Kimberley coast) were observed and photographed on the 17th Nov.

Brown Shrike subspecies lunionensis
Ashmore Reef, Ashmore Reef
1 adult male observed and photographed on a single day. This is about the fourth record for Australia, the first away from Christmas Island and as far as I am aware the first time this subspecies has been identified in Australia.

Pechora Pipit, Asian Brown Flycatcher, Arctic Warbler, Oriental Reed Warbler
Browse Island, Western Australia
A Pechora Pipit (2nd Aust record), Asian Brown Flycatcher, Oriental Reed Warbler, Timor subspecies of Arafura Fantail (semicollaris), two Arctic Warblers, naturally occurring Tree Sparrows and migrant northern hemisphere Peregrine Falcons were all recorded on Ashmore Reef during a recent survey there.
