Hi Steve, I did a post earlier this year after seeing them in the same spot. At the time I phoned Alan Gillanders who assured me that they are indeed a wild population. In fact Alan knew the entire history of the birds, saying that they had been wild for 20 years. It's interesting that you mentioned the ones at Samsonvale Cemetery as I saw them recently out while out with Andrew Stafford. The nesting Striped honeyeaters at the same location were a huge buzz to see as they seem a hard bird to get onto for someone from Melbourne.
