The Black-Throated Finch Recovery Team (www.blackthroatedfinch.com/) has ratified Maureen Cooper's sighting of 15 BTRs in NW section Bimblebox NR. on 19 May 2011 and advised Birds Australia and Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities of their decision.

"There is a reported sighting of the black-throated finch on the nature refuge, but it is understood the sighting has not yet been confirmed as accepted as an official record by Birds Australia. None of these finches were reported to have been sighted during field surveys and assessments by Unidel and Austecology consultants in 2010 and 2011."
