I think you are correct Colin. The Bymien birds at Cooloola along with the
Browns Road ones at Mt Glorious appear to have been thoroughly "taped out".

This is the key reason why I am discreet about my sites for this species on
the Sunshine Coast. When people get upset about the reluctance of some of us
to share information at times, they need to keep this very real problem in
mind.

Hi Guys

I tried, a couple of years ago, for both Sooty and Marbled, at Brown's
rd and down the track to the waterfall on several occasions. Didn't have
a real problem getting Sooty, but didn't have much success as far as the
Frogmouths were concerned. We had minimal response - calling from some
distance away, but not showing any interest in coming closer and on one
occasion a fleeting glimpse of a bird high in the canopy flying across
an open space, but showing no other interest. I think they have been
'played out' there for some time.
I wonder if they 'tape out' quicker than other birds or if there is some
other factor involved? At Bymien picnic ground at Cooloola NP I had a
good response to tape several years ago, but have not succeeded in
attracting them at all since. I have had Sooty on a couple of occasions
there. I'm sure Marbled are present, but they just don't seem interested
at all and I don't think they have been tried for as often at that
location as they might have at Mt Glorious.
