Talking about Noisy Miners gleaning insects under bark, a few years ago I
was involved in Black-eared Miner studies and noted these birds spending a
lot of time searching under bark on tree trunks, at the moment I have three
Black-eared Miner/Yellow-throated Miner hybrid nests, with young, on my
mallee block at Monash SA and the adults are spending a lot of time
searching under bark for one of their main food items for the young birds.
