A huge thank you to everyone who has responded to my request, I am now armed with a great deal of information about the island. The general consensus from birders is that walking is fine, riding a bike can be great, and hiring a car is wholly unnecessary. I have lots of accommodation recommendations! On the strength of everyone's advice we have now booked for mid-February, and I'll look forward to sharing my photos with you all once I've returned from what will be a great adventure!
