Hi Richard,
My most reliable spot would have to be Blue-tongue Bend walk at Jumping
Creek Reserve, Warrandyte State Park. Start the walk at the carpark and
follow the track along the river. They can some times be seen if you look
down the hills into the denser foliage along the
river. When you get to the "roundabout", take the fire trail up the hill and
follow it over the ridge, taking a right at the fork on your way down the
last hill and another right when you see a sign that say "Nature trail".
This route should get you back at the carpark and give you plenty of
opportunities to see this species. They like to roost on fairly
small branches so my best tip is to be on the lookout for a largish "stump"
on a tree that doesn't look big enough to have the said stump. I hope that
makes sense :)
