I am sitting in the beautiful Queensland sunshine looking at a Square-tailed Kite sitting on a nest. Eric Zillmann and I have it in the telescope and Eric is setting up his camera. Eric 1st studied the Square-tailed Kite nesting at Smiths Crossing near Bucca in 1985. It has nested in the same area each year and commences nest building on July 16 and by August the eggs hatch. Mostly one chick is raised but Eric and Chris Barnes have seen two about 6 or 7 years ago.
