Just returned from a trip to Payne's Find, Mt Magnet, Yalgoo and Cue with Gil Langfield from Victoria. We stopped at Lake Austin. Gary Oliver reported 100 Banded Stilt there recently. Things have changed : Banded Stilt 3250 Red-necked Avocet 300 Black-winged Stilt 100 Red-capped Plover 10 Gull-billed Tern 1The majority of the stilts / avocets were immatures. Presumably they are returning from breeding somewhere in the north or the east after the excellent conditions. I am told that there are still none on Rottnest Island. Also four Orange Chats. _________________________________________________________________ Frank O'Connor Birding WA http://birdingwa.iinet.net.auPhone : (08) 9386 5694 Email : =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: http://birding-aus.org =============================== |
