Dear OBers,

OBC member Paul Jepson has asked us to post the following message:

I am writing to ask if you would consider signing an on-line petition to
save the BBC Wildlife Fund. The fund was launched in 2007 and has raised
nearly £3million and supported 87 conservation projects worldwide.

The BBC is planning to close the fund and one reason seems to be that at
a time of financial cuts the BBC needs to focus its resources on
programme making and delivery. My view is that the BBC WF is one way
that the wildlife film industry ‘gives back’ – if you like pays for the
ecosystem services that it uses to make its wonderful programmes. It
would be a great shame if this link was broken at a time when colleagues
working on front-line conservation projects are finding it harder and
harder to secure the funds they need to operate.
