Hello All. I have recently returned from a four week-four state birding trip
starting and ending in Brisbane. I travelled down through Eastern NSW,
across to North-west Victoria, then down to Portland for the May pelagic.
Then I went up through SA, taking in Kangaroo Is., some of the Eyre
Peninsular, and the Flinders Ranges. I then headed north along the
Strzlecki Track, across to Cameron Corner and Sturt NP, then I Headed up to
Thargomindah and across southern QLD. Along the way I was lucky enough to
see some real pearlers such as Great Shearwater & Sooty Albatross; four
grasswrens and Mallee Emuwren; Chestnut-breasted and Banded Whiteface;
Letter-winged Kites and Flock Bronzewings. Less rare, but new for me, were
Gibberbird, Cinnamon Quail-thrush, Rufous Treecreeper and a few Neophemas. I
managed reasonable shots of most of them (Except Mallee-bloody-Emuwren!)
which I will post on Wildiaries. Rather than produce a long boring trip
report I will (as time permits) produce a series of individual site reports
so that people can just check out whatever interests them personally. The
first four of these are now live at http://aussiebirding.wildiaries.com/

Cheers Steve Murray
