Birdline Tasmania

Published sightings for the week ending 1 May 2011.

Mon 25 Apr Rainbow Lorikeet Ulverstone
Increasing numbers of small flocks of this feral species being sighted daily, but a sinlge flock of over 30 birds flew over on our way to the ANZAC march. Small flocks are also turning up as far away as Burnie/Somerset, Devonport, Launceston and Epping Forest. It seems the authorities have left their run too late to try to control these dominant and agressive invaders, and now we just hope predictions of adverse effects on Swift Parrot numbers in the State don't eventuate!
