Hi - A few Australian birders visit East Timor, West Timor and other parts of
Nusa Tenggara.
Ruud de Lang [delaroz AT hetnet.nl] has just had "Snakes of the Lesser Sundas"
[Lombok through to Timor and
Wetar] published. This included many photographs of snakes and habitats from
oriental birders. The book included more that 300 colour photographs of the 30
odd snakes in the islands.
This is an excellent book, though with only 30 species, a 60-90 page booklet in
English and Indonesian, would be ideal for identification in the field [1 page
information and 1 page of photos per species]. Up to about 50 photos are given
of the
"White-lipped Island Viper/Green pit viper" which has blue, yellow and green
colour forms! The blue ones on Komodo look stunning.

Ruud is currently working on snakes of Maluku - if anyone has snake photos from
Halmahera, Seram, Buru, Kai, Tanimbar, Ambon etc, and habitat shots, please send
them on to Ruud, email above.
Thanks,
Colin Trainor
