All, Visitors to the Gold Scrub area around Lake Samsonvale, out side of BNE may notice a whole heap of Red-backed Fairy-Wrens with a bit of jewelry. Students from Cornell University in the US are conducting a long term project there and this season banded in excess of 250 individuals (all within a few hundred meters of the car park!). They are only here in the Spring but have asked the local community to keep an eye out for banded birds when people visit over the winter. They are particularly interested in any sightings of bright males during the winter, so if any are noted with jewelry, please drop me a line with band colour combinations. Cheers, Roger Roger McNeill Samford Valley, SEQ =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: http://birding-aus.org =============================== |
