Tom,

They certainly sound like fasciolatus to me. In the Watagan Mountains behind 
Lake Macquarie NSW they occur on dam edges in drier Eucalypt forests. I thought 
I heard a White-throated Nightjar calling towards the end, but maybe I imagined 
that?

This is probably a Great Barred Frog (Mixophyes fasciolatus) but is in
eucalypt habitat (not rainforest) on a neighbour's property near our home,
it's been baffling us for ages
