G'day Today it was not seen until 2.30 and then showed fairly frequently until at least 4.30 when I saw it well for the first time. There seems to be a discussion about age and sex. Lots of good photos taken now but not by me. There does not seem to be a pattern. One just has to be prepared to put in the hours waiting for it to show. There have been an unusual number of high pressure systems in the equatorial region this year and that may have accounted for the bird heading our way. Another suggestion has been volcanic dust. Then again it might be one of those random acts which are just .... random.
