We stayed at Uepi last year - there are a few birds on that island - the white
cockatoos and the scarlet lorikeets are the most obvious. On the way to
Wilderness lodge through Marovo lagoon there are a couple of islands where the
greater and lesser frigate birds roost - very impressive at dusk.
Diving is the best around - even the BBC wildlife film makers say so - get out
and see Penguin reef. Kavachi volcano is pretty good as well.
Herps - plenty of small skinks - monitors on Uepi and around, a few turtles and
some very nice snakes
Tetepare island is supposed to be excellent - untouched - but it was hit by a
cyclone last year - and it looks like it is about to get hit again !

Alternatives to Uepi - have to be Sabah - birds, herps and diving - Go to Danum
Valley followed by Kapalai. Diving is not as good as Solomons (not much is)
but the animals are much better.

Hi birders
We are planning to spend two weeks at Uepi Island resort in 2016. Of course, if
someone can recommend a similar location in another area/country, I will have
time to research. Has anyone got any suggestions about nice, beachfront resorts
with great rainforest birding/herping (scuba diving too)?
