Subject: western ground parrots
A blow to efforts to save a species.
Bushfires in WA's cape Arid park have threatened the habitat of critically
endangered western Ground parrots - however according to the local Dept of
Environment and Conservation, no one's been able to get into the area to see
if or how many of the birds have survived.

Hopefully some or all of the parrots managed to get clear of the fire as
there are thought to be only around 200 of these left in the wild.
