The recent article in Emu regarding the proposed split in grasswrens caused me to communicate on this subject with Birds Australia. Today I received a reply from Graeme Hamilton, CEO of birds Australia saying :-
BA's Research and Conservation Committee is in the process of establishing a Taxonomy Committee........., I feel BA has a responsibility to consider all relevant publications and to maintain the definitive Australian bird taxonomic list. ...........I feel that the world taxonomies of IOC and BirdLife International should be advised by BA following disucssion and deliberation among the experts in Australia.

It seems like we will get exactly what has been suggested at some time in the future. Hope all in favour of the BA/BOCA merger will vote so the list will come from a clear Australian peak birding body.
Regards
Peter
