Recently I have been helping to analyze acoustic sensors for QUT (
http://sensor.mquter.qut.edu.au/) at Peregian, SE Qld (-26.47357, 153.08427
approx coords only) to verify the presence of Ground Parrots (which has been
successful) but came across some calls which I believe could be Southern
Emu-wren (Stipiturus malachurus). However though the habitat appears to be
suitable and the species can be found further north at Cooloolah NP I'm
concerned that I may have misidentified a Fairy-wren, possibly Variegated as
I have heard this species make similar plaintive whistles.

I have posted a couple of audio-grabs from the sensors on Xeno-Canto's
'mystery' page (http://www.xeno-canto.org/australasia/mystery.php) and would
welcome any suggestions to their veracity.
