These smaller swamps are lush and birds are breeding. Brolgas, Hoary-headed 
Grebes, Black Swan, BTNativehen, LGrassbirds,Red-kneed Dotts, Shoveler, Black 
Duck, Grey Teal, Black-winged Stilt, Masked Lapwing, etc... Swamp Harriers are 
the regular harrier...instead of Spotted in normal years which are very scarce 
this year.

Absent are Whiskered Terns, Sharp-tailed Sandpipers( except a few at Fosters 
swamp near Kerang), Glossy Ibis, not many crakes/blue-billed musk duck <
present are plumed whistling duck wnecked heron more than usual< but generally 
bird numbers are down

the summer should see the lakes get really interesting

lake leaghur_ lake yando_lake boort_sandhill lake_lake bael bael_the 
marshes_tragowel swamp_the marshes around dingee_and the bendigo creek_lake 
tutchewop_lake lalbert_lake boga_all have water and will be worth visiting down 
the track
