We are considering our first digital SLR for bird photography. As yet we don't know much about what to look for but we were thinking of a Canon 500D with a Sigma 400 mm lens. Does that seem like a good option or are there better-value brands and products out there? We would be grateful for any tips from those more experienced than us (probably most of you!)
